Psychological Horror · 2026
Ascend an isolated mountain in search of a missing loved one while reality, memory and the path ahead become increasingly uncertain.
Project Overview
Veiled Crown is a first-person psychological horror game set within the isolated Nordic-inspired country of Norrvik.
After his girlfriend disappears while attempting to climb Mount Himinfald, the protagonist follows her route in the hope of finding her and uncovering why the mountain became the centre of her obsession.
The experience combines atmospheric exploration, environmental storytelling and deliberate traversal as the player climbs deeper into an increasingly hostile and uncertain environment.
The mountain is more than a destination—it is the structure through which the story, tension and protagonist’s memories gradually unfold.
Veiled Crown begins with a personal objective: finding someone the protagonist deeply cares about. Her disappearance provides an emotional reason to continue climbing despite the warnings, worsening weather and growing uncertainty.
The narrative is designed to unfold through the environment, abandoned locations, recorded moments and discoveries made along the climbing route.
As the ascent continues, the distinction between memory, fear and reality becomes increasingly difficult to understand.
Search isolated environments for routes, supplies and traces left behind.
Navigate mountain paths and deliberate traversal challenges.
Discover what happened and piece together the events leading to the disappearance.
Continue through worsening conditions and increasing psychological pressure.
The current prototype establishes the movement foundation while different approaches to climbing and traversal are tested.
I created the core concept and lead the project’s narrative, gameplay and overall creative direction.
The project is primarily developed independently, with assistance producing selected 3D models.
The central challenge is creating a climbing mechanic that supports horror rather than turning the experience into a conventional action game.
Climbing needs to feel physical and involved without becoming repetitive or interrupting the pacing of the narrative.
Each route must also connect naturally with story discoveries, level progression and moments of psychological tension.
The prototype is being used to compare different traversal approaches before the complete climbing system and mountain layout are finalised.
Work In Progress
Early footage demonstrating the project’s current movement and traversal foundation. Visuals and mechanics are subject to change.
Veiled Crown is currently an early private prototype focused on proving its traversal, narrative structure and overall atmosphere.
My proudest work so far is the narrative concept and the way the characters, setting and mountain mythology connect to form the foundation of the experience.
Future development will expand the climbing mechanics, establish the complete level progression and turn the existing narrative concepts into a playable psychological journey.
Veiled Crown does not currently have a publicly available build.
